How I Became A Sherlockian

OK guys, it’s confession time. I can’t keep all these feels in me anymore. I’ve got to let it all out and I’m going to do it no matter how hard or long it is. This is the story of my absolute and complete, irrevocable and total obsession with Sherlock. (Oh and for those of you who don’t watch BBC’s Sherlock, I just, I have nothing to say to you…Go and get your arse off that chair and watch it…NOW!) Oh, and P.S. this is me going on full-on fangirl mode, so unless you’re ready for that, I strongly suggest you stop reading at this point. Like, now.

Recently (and by recently I mean from September 2013) I started watching this modern rendition of A.C. Doyle’s Holmes (which I LOVED reading as a teenager) and absolutely fell in love. I cannot even begin to describe the number of hours I should’ve been studying for my exams or doing something infinitely more important but was watching/fangirling over Sherlock instead. And the worst (or best, if you take it my way) part is, I’m not even sorry. I regret nothing.

First of all, cheers to Moffat and Gatiss for making this series so mind-blowingly amazing and heart-stoppingly interesting. Oh, and kudos for hiring the sexiest guy on the planet (with a voice so deep and creamy and full-on Alan Rickman-y that it takes your breath away) as Sherlock – Benedict Cumberbatch. And of course, the always lovely Martin Freeman who plays Dr. John Watson.

And of course, which fangirling session is truly complete without describing in loving detail, my OTP (excluding CumberChris or Denedict – which is me and Benedict Cumberbatch :3 ) which is Johnlock (John and Sherlock) and Sherlolly (Sherlock and Molly Hooper). Sometimes, I end up watching Sherlock curled up in an intense ball of feels shipping my OTP so hard that I start to tear up. No, I don’t need medical attention. It’s just another day in the life of a fangirl.

For those of you who are still reading this, this means you’re a Cumberbitch (fans of Cumberbatch) or Sherlockian and thus, share my feels. This also means that you must be a pretty hardcore fan, because if you’re not, you must not have watched the Reichenbach Fall and the AGES of waiting before they explained how Sherlock survived the fall. And if you didn’t stop reading, because here come the spoilers.

I have a love-hate relationship with Moffat and Gatiss for making us wait so long (till Jan 1, 2014) for Season 3. But, as usual, the explanation of the fall, Johnlock’s reunion and everything in between was just fantastic. And the way Gatiss incorporated every single OTP in our fandom in that one episode? Wow. It’s like he just ransacked the tumblr of every Sherlockian. Oh and of course, Sherlock’s best man speech at John and Mary’s wedding (that successfully forever shattered the Johnlock shippers) brought me to tears (with laughter and feels – oh, the bromance). I still have my Sherlolly ship left, though (though at this point, I think I’m going to sink with this ship as well, seeing as how Molly was recently engaged).

Oh and you have plenty of reason to love Benedict even if you’re a trekky (Star Trek fan). He played the badass ‘Khan’ in Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013, and boy was he good. Goes to show you how rightful I am in this love and admiration of him – he can play a badass just as well as a ‘on the side of the angels‘ character (if you know what I mean – and you will, if you’re a Sherlockian).

OK, I think this is a logical stopping point because I’m bursting with feels just writing about this and I better leave before the hyperventilation starts. More later, guys!

Stay beautiful,

Catching up : Of Freedom & To-Do Lists

Hello everyone!

So I haven’t been posting very often recently and I’m sorry about that. I’ve been having exams up until now but they’re finally over (as of today) so YAY!!! I have NO idea how they went but I’m just glad 1 entire month of studying is finally done with. Time to let my hair down and have some fun.

I’ve got a lot of stuff to catch up on – my blog, for one; shopping, completing ‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 7, watching all the anime I’ve been piling up for later, cleaning my room (total freedom was never even an option, was it mum?)  and of course, birthday celebrations (my own and one of my best friends’!)

First things first, how is everyone? I hope you’re all just as glad as I am right now! My to do list’s just been piling on so here I am, cleaning up my bookbag, sorting through my stuff and thinking about the things I need to do. I just noticed that September’s just flown by hasn’t it? All this while, I’ve been studying and I hardly noticed it pass by (darn you exams!). Even so, its been a great month and I’ve a lot to be thankful for – my uncle survived his operation, my birthday was great, my brother got into college and everything is just perfect. September’s been good to me and I hope October will be even better.

I also have a big announcement to make – I’m going to be writing a book. Well, trying to anyway. I had this really great idea about what it would be about while I was busy daydreaming when I should’ve been studying (figures) and I jotted it down, thank goodness, and here I am, already putting my thoughts to ink! I can’t wait!

Stay beautiful!

Getting Organised

School is starting up again and there’s so much stuff to do – new books, binders and papers, new stationary and so many activities and tests. Keeping everything going and being on the top of your game isn’t easy. Its that time of year where you’ve gotta start getting it all together again – get organised for the new year. All these muddled up schedules and to- do lists arent cutting it. If you’re anything like me, you’re a super control freak and organising and scheduling everyday down to the minute is essential for your peace of mind.

Get a planner – its the best way to saty orgaised. Doctors appointments, tests, soccer practise, parties – you can jot it all down here and remember everything this way. This is a valuable tool for every student so is your school doesn’t give you planners (mine does), go out and get one, its extremely helpful, specially if you’re into a lot of stuff. Make lists and plan it all out neatly. Its not a waste of time. Seriously.

School Supplies 3

Have a particular place like a file or folder to put in worksheets, assignments and papers from every class. Don’t just stuff it in your textbook (trust me, I know). It doesnt work. You’ll just end up forgetting about it. Get a file organiser for those handouts and separate notebooks for each subject – NOT just one gigantic book for all of them. It isnt neat or easy to leaf through.

Another important thing is to clean up your school satchel and locker. It doesnt do for it to have old handouts, old folders, broken pencils and scraps of paper and chewing gum wrappers. Clear it all out and stack all your stuff neatly. Its a sure shot way not to forget things. Also, assigning a specific place in your house (preferrably your room) which is well-lit and quiet to study and do homework is a must. You don’t want your little brother’s friends or your sister’s head-banging music to disturb you. So find a quiet place to work, learn and organise your thoughts and believe me, you’ll start aceing all those tests.

Also, its important that you set aside separate slots of time for everything – and make sure you’re being realistic! Make a schedule that you think you can deal with and stick to it. Don’t put 4 hour studying slots and then a rush-off to soccer practise, becuase we all know you’re only fooling yourself there. Give yourself enough breaks (not too many) and set realistic goals.

Last of all, make sure to have fun! High school (or just school) is one of the most memorable time in your life – make friends, make memories and make your dreams come true.

Random Thoughts #3: National Police Woman Day

So, I didn’t know of this holiday until last year, but apparantly there’s something called National Police Woman Day. No, its not a national or international holiday. No, you don’t get to go home early from school. In fact, hardly anyone today truly acknowledges the role of police women in the force. I have a friend, Holly, who’s mum’s a police woman and she’s the bravest lady I’ve ever seen. I truly idolize her.

Theres this amazing article about how women police officer’s bring a unique and dynamic turn to community policing, but I won’t get into any of that right now. I just wanted to show my appreciation and acknowledgement to all those courageous women out there who are not spoken for. We respect you!

In special dedication to my friend’s mum,

Fresh Talent : Kody Keplinger

So recently I read this book “The DUFF” (the Designated Ugly Fat Friend) by Kody Keplinger and it was amazing. Its about this seventeen-year-old girl Bianca Piper who is loyal and cynical but doesnt think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She has a messed up life at home and it gets even more awry when she gets kissed by the school’s hottie Wesley Rush. I wont tell you more or I’ll give the plot away, but all I’ll say is that it was extremely moving and its a must have on your booklist.

The Duff by Kody Keplinger

The Duff by Kody Keplinger

The book was authored by nineteen year old (as far as I know) Kody Keplinger who is a TV buff and Converse tennis shoe enthusiast. She describes herself as a hippie and is the author of three young adult novels The DUFF, A Midsummer’s Nightmare and Shut Out. She wrote her first book The Duff during her senior year at high school in Kentucky. Now she lives in New York and spends her time eating Thai food.

I loved this book and her writing style and though the plot isn’t very original, I really love the story just the same. You can find her on or visit her blog.

Happy reading!
